Our Tutoring Program: Cheltenham Academics, a community-based, volunteer-delivered tutoring program was launched in the fall of 2010 by a partnership among the Cheltenham School District (CSD), Arcadia University , and several community-based organizations including the Cheltenham Area Branch NAACP, and Congregation Adath Jeshurun. A committee spearheaded by Cheltenham Township Commissioner Art Haywood and the CSD Superintendent, Dr. Darlene Davis met for several months to organize this effort. The Cheltenham Area Branch of the NAACP is an integral part of Cheltenham Academics (CA).We were one of the founding members of CA and 3 NAACP member, Herman Carter. Scholarship Chair, David Scott, 2 nd Vice President – Legal Redress Chair, Francine Crump, Former Youth Chapter Chair, are on the board of directors and we meet every month

The Branch is also one of the two funders that are financing program operations.
